Kylian Mbappe celebrates his goal

Erling Haaland's second goal in Norway's Round of 16 victory over Brazil has been voted the best strike of that stage of the tournament, edging out strong competition from late contenders.

The forward picked the ball up just inside the Brazil half, drove at the last defender, and buried a rising effort into the top corner from the edge of the box with less than fifteen minutes remaining.

It was Haaland's sixth goal of the tournament, moving him level at the top of the Golden Boot standings heading into the quarter-final round.

Fans voted across FIFA's official channels over a 48-hour window, with the Norway captain's strike collecting well over a third of the total vote share in the closest phase of voting so far.

Norway face the winner of Wednesday's late kickoff in the quarter-finals, with the tournament now less than three weeks from its conclusion.
